Brantley’s Legacy
Brantley was diagnosed with a 4 cm brain tumor on August 16, 2023. We immediately began the process of radiation and chemotherapy. He got through his first round, but there was no progress in the right direction. We immediately started a second round of chemotherapy, and unfortunately, after the third treatment, I was pulled aside and told that he was getting worse — but that there were two clinical trials we could try.
After a long process of reviewing the information on these trials, I decided we would give one a try. We did, and there was no change. Over the following days he continued to get worse, and I took him back to the hospital. I was sat down and told that my baby boy would be going home on hospice.
I was completely devastated, but I had to stay strong for my son. He was 9 years old and also autistic, so he didn’t fully understand what was wrong with him or what was happening. Through it all, he stayed so strong. He was a fighter through the entire process.
He was on hospice for a month and a half and passed away in my arms on May 31, 2025, at 3:21 PM.
He will always be forever missed and loved, and will never, ever be forgotten. Till I see you again, my sweet angel baby.
Our Donation Story
When Brantley was placed on hospice, I was introduced to Gift from a Child. My first reaction was that they were very nice and caring people, but I was not going to let any part of my son go anywhere.
But as of today, I am so thankful I made the decision to donate — because now my son is around the world, and hopefully they will find a way to stop this horrible disease. Hopefully Brantley can help another family, so no other parent ever has to go through this.
