Reed’s Legacy
Reed was a kind, compassionate, and joyful child. He was the best hugger and the most amazing, kind, and patient big brother. He loved books, dancing, swimming, and learning facts about animals and important people in history.
Reed was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioma, an aggressive brain tumor, in June 2022 at the age of four and a half. He navigated three long years of treatment with endless humor and optimism.
He spent hours at Children’s National Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital listening to his favorite books. He also became a big brother eight months after his diagnosis and adored his little brother, Graham.
Reed’s tumor recurred in August 2023, December 2024, and again in June 2025. He entered hospice care in July 2025 because there were no additional treatment options we could pursue given the extent of his disease. Reed died at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on August 15, 2025.

Our Donation Story
Since the day of Reed’s diagnosis, we have been committed to helping advance pediatric brain tumor research in any way we can, so that one day other families do not have to experience this pain and heartbreak. We are grateful to Reed’s medical team and the brain tumor community for their tireless work to find more effective treatments.
For our family, the decision to donate through Gift from a Child was an important way to honor Reed’s beautiful legacy of kindness and compassion.
