Aimee’s Legacy

Aimee was 11 years old when she was diagnosed with brain cancer. She had two brain surgeries, a shunt placement, different treatments of chemo, 30 radiation treatments, and an immunotherapy trial. After a year of all these treatments, our family was told that there was nothing else that could be done. Her tumor had become diffuse, and the doctor said that he believed she only had months, maybe weeks, to live. We were sent home on hospice care. Her tumor was found to have hundreds of genetic mutations.

Aimee was 12 years old when she was told that she was going to die. She counted it a privilege to be used by God to help others with her journey with cancer.

Miraculously, Aimee survived for two and a half years beyond medical expectations. Even though she was confined to her wheelchair because she was paralyzed on her entire left side, Aimee still loved life, her family, and her Jesus. Mostly confined at home due to traveling issues, Aimee loved in any way she could. When her oncologist called to ask if she would be interested in donating her brain tissue after she passed, she replied,

“Of course! Take whatever you want if it helps someone else!”

That was our Aimee.

On October 12, 2024, at 4:30 A.M., Aimee peacefully went to be with her beloved Lord.

Our Donation Story

Aimee always wanted to be an organ donor, but because of the chemotherapies and radiation treatments, she wasn’t eligible. This was a huge disappointment to her.

Aimee and our family are so very thankful for the Gift From A Child organization.

We pray that Aimee’s tumor may help unlock key information to save the lives of other children in the future.
