Memory Monday: Olivia Lipnicky

Liv Like a Unicorn was started by my amazing daughter Olivia, or “Liv” as we called her. Right around her 8th birthday she was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor in her spinal cord – DIPG. Liv bravely fought her cancer for 9 months, all while worrying about other kids fighting the same disease. The doctors told us to “go home and make memories” that was “not good enough” for my daughter. The summer she was sick she raised over $10,000 for pediatric cancer and the Liv like a Unicorn foundation was born. She believed that kids could make a difference and we should all strive to “be the good”

From there came the idea for LIV like a Unicorn. “Even when she was on hospice, in the hospital, unable to get out of bed, she would say every day, ‘Mommy, did you get the paperwork done? Is my foundation official yet? Come on, Mom. What are you doing? Hurry up.'”

To my darling girl, I hope we are making you proud. You will forever be our North Star, and I promise to always continue the legacy you created, because of you we will #bethegood.
